Slept 12 hours last night.

About ready to go back to bed again.

UPDATE: Dozed for another 3 hours or so. Still tired. Was supposed to go to the gay mens social at the Roeder Home today with Werebear, but I don't think I am going to be up to it.

UPDATE: Slept until about 4:30. That makes almost 17 hours sleep in the last 24. Not good. Whoretense called from the gay mens social to check up on me, but I slept through the call. That was very sweet of him.
I have this amazing friend named Whoretense. He's a mad scientist.

Seriously.

He's one of the Bellingham Radical Faeries, and he's an engineer in his mundane life. But his passion... is creating these amazing fusions of art and engineering that must be seen to be believed.

Like today. After the gay marriage demonstration, he asked me to go with him up to Red Square at WWU, to try out his latest objet d'art -- a remote controlled wedding cake. With two grooms on top.

I'm not making this up!

He made a fake wedding cake out of a RC car. And put two grooms on top of it.

So we went to WWU and tried it out. It worked well! Passerby didn't seem to know what to make of a gay wedding cake zipping around Red Square!

More photos here.

Unfortunately, after only a few minutes, the batteries died, and that was the end of the WWU field test. But in light of today's protests downtown, it was oh so fabulous!

I have the best friends!

So, before I do anything else, I think it's time for me to take a moment and stop and express my deep appreciation for everyone who has helped me get to where I am now in my education.
Click for a long list of thank yous )

Andreas (aka Strngelove) emailed me this photo he took of me, Haltia, Whoretense and SadieDog at the Shadow Falls campground in B.C. last week.
I'm back from Bellingham's 2nd annual Gay Pride Parade, and what a wonderful day it was. The weather was perfect: warm and sunny, but not too hot.

We assembled at Bellingham High School, and I stripped down to my skivvies and had people paint my body day-glo with finger paint (I supplied rubber gloves to keep hands clean). It was really tribal, and I had fun (even if a drag queen did graffiti on my back... ;-)

I walked with the Faeries... Whoretense wore a fabulous flower print mini dress and her dog Sadie walked too, [livejournal.com profile] teledildonix in chaps, Rick in a most amazing pair of metal mesh and leather wings, Bruce in his bow tie, and even Ted in his wheelchair!

We marched to the Depot Market, and we even had bible-worshipping protesters along the route this year! We've arrived! (Last year, we just got ignored.)

And me, once again I debuted a new Scruffy Rumbler outfit, a skirt made only of neckties! I was amazing. Lots of people took pictures of me. And I got cruised by a really cute guy in the marching band. *sigh* If only I had been able to give him my card :-(

I'll post/link pictures as soon as they're available!

UPDATE: Photos of Bellingham RadFaes from Faces of Bellingham:

I never did blog this video, and I just came across it again, so better late than never (4 months later). I give you: Bellingham's First Gay Pride Parade, July 15, 2007. (I am interviewed at around 00:35 -- in a Fabulous Scruffy Rumbler Original -- and appear again at about 03:20, walking next to the incomparable Whoretense's Apocolypticop car!)

Today was a somewhat better day. My mood wasn't quite as dark and hopeless today as yesterday. We've been talking about goal-setting in DVR Workstrides class. I've even been thinking about restarting the process of going back to school.

Today was capped off with a surprise visit by Whoretense! At 5pm, there came a knock on my door... helloooo! Whoretense had come to take me to the monthly 1st Wednesday Gay Men's Potluck. What a wonderful surprise! We had a very nice time. The only downside was that Rick was there, and he seemed very... distant to me. No surprise, considering we'd broken up a couple of weeks back. But I know it was the right thing to do.
