Mmmmmm. I am seriously in like with [livejournal.com profile] porthos74.

Went over to his place Saturday after Faerie Coffee.
Last night we played pool, he made me dinner, then we walked arm in arm on the Boulevard Park promenade (which we had to ourselves) and kissed under the stars. Went to a party at Alex Poo's (seriously, great party, dude ;-) ) then back to Capt. Dylan's (he calls me his "First Mate" ... and "Pet Giant") and played pool (I lost - a LOT!). He taught me how to play 9-ball (Gotta love a game that favours slop shots). Held each other at the stroke of midnight on his back porch watching fireworks through the trees, and kissed.

Whoa, this is happening fast.

Happy 2008!

Went to brunch this morning, and shopping. I talked and talked and talked, and I know I didn't listen enough but I just wanted to lay my soul bare before this guy (I promise to listen more next date).
It felt very comfortable, very peaceful. He is such a funny guy, and he gets my jokes and obscure references (Would you like Skinny & Sweet?). Only 33, that's 6 years younger than me, but he knows he's a Gen-Xer, and we're on the same wavelength a lot. It's actually a little scary. He kept saying today that he keeps forgetting that we've only been dating a week.

I know exactly what he means.

Today I took him out for lunch, and then back to his place to play pool, and then out to see Sweeney Todd (freaked me out -- gory).

Wayne just came over, in tears. Gotta go.

Last night, Wayne was bored and had money. I was bored and broke. So he invited me to go with him to the movies to see Beowulf, the new animated retelling of the Old English epic poem.

I really enjoyed it, and I must say, there were some HAWT HAWT HAWT men in this movie! The movie kind of tries to be a cross between 300 and Lord of the Rings, and though it doesn't always hit, there's plenty of juicy eye candy for guys like me, who like to watch big, butch, bearded, hairy, muscled manly men running around with few clothes on. ;-)

The motion-capture animation is superb, though it's just not quite real yet. I understand what some critics have said about "soulless eyes." But Beowulf does nicely show where the state of the art of cg animation is now, and though this motion picture will probably someday be seen as "quaint," because of the artificial quality that animation hasn't quite overcome yet, we're well on the way to a world where actors and their performances are stored as digital models in a computer. Amazing stuff.

And WOOF!
Comcast cut my Internet connection for nonpayment a couple of days ago, so I ended up being cut off from the world (eeep!) It's just as well, because I was getting pretty pissed off at Comcast because of their refusal to honour net neutrality, and the recent news that Comcast is actively interfering with P2P traffic like BitTorrent and Gnutella. Plus they charge $50 a month for cable internet here, and I just can't afford it.

So bye bye Comcast, hello Clearwire! The speed is almost as good, and it's about $20 less a month. Thanks to my neighbour Wayne, and my friend Matt Endrizzi, I'm now up and running on the Clearwire wireless network!
On the advice of the police, I have written and mailed the following letter to the landlord:

For the second time in two days, the Bellingham Police Dept. has been here because my paranoid neighbour/housemate, Donnie, keeps calling them on me.
Cut for drama )
