ISO 3166-2: WA, not WN

This imprint is pressed into the cement of one of the sidewalks leading into Old Main at the WWU Campus.

It reads:
"MACY BROS CONTR'S 1919 BELLINGHAM WN"

What is intriguing about this imprint is that it uses "WN" as the abbreviation for Washington State, instead of the ISO 3166-2 standard "WA," which the postal service now uses. I guess the standard hadn't been implemented yet in 1919.

I just wish that the AP Style and coast guard boat registrations would switch to the international standard abbreviations as well, but that's just a pet peeve of mine....

LOL! And try to decipher Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Minnesota, Montana, Maryland, Massachusetts and Maine!

I don't think we've met, have we? I see we have a lot of friends in common. And you went to Short Mountain. You must be all right. Are you a Radical Faerie, like me?

I've added you as a friend, so you can read my friends-only posts.

I think we met every so briefly at MMF. Early 1990s. I am more on the faerie fringe and mostly live in other realities such as my job. I was always interested in your walkabout and I have a glimmer of understanding about your meds and all. I am looking forward to learning more about your current situation.

Oh WOW! Really? MMF in the 1990s.... gosh that was such a long time ago. You'll forgive me if I can't recall you? I spent a lot of those early festivals high. Kind of like "If you remember the '60s, you weren't there" ;-)

In any case, glad to hear from you! And most of my friends are on "the faerie fringe."

The Walkabout was great, a life-changing experience for me.

Welcome aboard Hagrid's Wild Ride!
