RNC Chair: "Jobs" only come from private sector, government never creates "jobs"

You know, I've heard tortured logic before, but this is just ridiculous:

So by RNC Chair Michael Steele's logic, then a being a schoolteacher isn't a job. Being a fireman isn't a job. Being a policeman isn't a job. Being a member of the military isn't a job. Hell, by that standard, my mother, who spent 22 years as a career U.S. Army Nurse, taking care of military personnel and dependants, and raising 3 kids that way, didn't have a job. It was just work.

BULLSHIT!

This goes right to the heart of what's wrong with the Republican establishment today: They think that the "Free Market" is the solution to everything! I have news for them: IT'S NOT. It's just one tool in the toolbelt.

The truth, as I see it: The tool we need right now is a big dose of FDR-style SOCIALISM.

Where have you been?

American Banks got 350 billion in support already. Isn't that socialism?

Pffffft. NO!

That was pure old American Capitalism and Greed. The bankers bought the government, and then were taking directly from the treasury to get their return on investment.

Bank bailouts were an AWFUL idea. Pure Capitalism.

Socialism would have meant that we the people would have gotten something for it. We didn't.

good to know that if i ever go teach for a university, i'll be jobless.

Amen to socialism.

And I love the idea that the free market is the solution: after all, the free market has done SUCH a good job so far.

Insulting, isn't it?

He needs to talk to the military about changing their marketing campaign. Military as long-term employment has been something they've been pushing since the 70s.

And as a small business owner, I'm not sure I'm willing to take on risks that my own government doesn't feel it can handle. That's a message I'm pretty sure he does not want to be sending and I got it loud and clear.
