Do you think 9/11 was an inside job?

Knowing what we know now about the lies the Bush administration told to in order go to war with Iraq, do you suspect that what we have been told about the attacks of 9/11 was not the truth?

Me, I can't prove anything, but I suspect that the whole thing was staged, in order to create a myth of an external enemy -- Islamic terrorists -- in order for the people to get behind and support the for-profit war machine.

While I don't think that it's impossible, I also don't think that the government version is impossible, either. The latest opinion that hijackers crashed Flight 93 to prevent the passengers from regaining control feeds my conspiracy-minded side, though. The tragedies in Spain, England and Bali tend to support the government line.

What does make me wonder is the lack of any other big events since then. If Oklahoma City, Virginia Tech and the Beltway Sniper can happen, I'm surprised that terrorist attacks from sympathizers already in the US haven't occurred. Even if Homeland Security is just watching every person of Middle-Eastern ancestry so close that the very few who would be prone to violence are being caught, I'd have expected some person with other severe emotional or mental health problems to take on the "cause" of one of the groups and stage some sort of violent act with publicity attached.

I think Naomi Klein is on the right track here -- this is "Disaster Capitalism." And if you have to manufacture the disaster in order to manipulate the public, so be it.

It really sucks that I have to be so suspicious of my government, but there's a long history of deception and dirty dealings.
