So the temperature finally rose above freezing, and the falling snow turned to rain. Which is good for washing away much of the accumulated snow, but turns everything into a sloppy, slushy mess -- and when it freezes again tonight, it will be dangerous. But for now the streets are clear, and it's warmer, so I decided to brave the slush in order to run some errands. It's the first time I've been out of the apartment for days.

Went down to the Post Offices, bag full of parcels to mail to Iraq and Japan and Kentucky (Sister, Brother, Mother). Felt really holiday spirit-y. Especially when I discovered there was only ONE clerk was working in the downtown P.O., and the line was out to the lobby...

Spent some of my Christmas money and bought a new broom at the feed and seed store, so I can sweep the snow off my porch. Also picked up my shirt and pants from the cleaner (seat repair!), and dropped off another of my dress shirts to be laundered and heavily starched.

Went to the power company to pay part of my bill, but the office had closed early due to weather. Later on that payment, then.

I dragged everything home, and now I'm taking a quick warm-up break to write this before I head out again to get supper!

It's snowing here, big, heavy clumps (not flakes, clumps) of wet snow that are accumulating rapidly. Several cm in just the past 3 hours - when I went out on the porch at 06:30 to have a smoke, it was raining and green outside. I went back to bed, snuggling up under the covers with my Captain.

Two and a half hours later, everything is white, and it's still coming down fast and hard. No way I am making it to Radical Faerie Coffee today. Good thing I'm inside, warm, with my Captain!
