I had an appointment with a podiatrist this morning (Dr. Michael Sherwin @ Family Foot Care) to look at my feet. He examined them, took x-rays, and concurred that I need new orthodics. I have an appointment for April 10 to get that done.

He also found that, at some point in the past, I broke one of the metatarsal bones in my left foot, which has healed since. I have no memory of this ever happening, but I've had so much foot pain in my life that it's possible I didn't recognize it as a break at the time, and thought it was gout, plantar fasciitis, or the excessive pronation that I do when I walk.

He also found a pinched nerve in the middle of my right foot, and gave me a cortizone injection in the foot (ouch) and told me to stay off my feet for the next couple of days. Which means I can't go to the food bank like I had planned tomorrow afternoon.

Can anyone go to the store for me to get some groceries and cigarettes in the meantime?
Thanks to the ministrations of two Goddesses, I have Naproxen Sodium (Aleve) now and OMG it's like Night and Day. The pain went from an 8 to a 4 within minutes. It still hurts, but nowhere near as much, and I know I'll be able to sleep tonight!

The cure came about when [livejournal.com profile] tianas_knife (Cass, who lives down in Olympia) contacted our mutual friend [livejournal.com profile] miss_westenra (Tina, who still goes to school up here), and explained my situation. A couple hours later, on her way to work, Tina stopped in and gave me a bottle of Naproxen! HALLELUJIA!

I told Tina I'd pay the favour forward. I am so grateful to both of them for arranging for this!

Did I mention it's like Night and Day?!? I'm not curling into a whimpering ball of pain when I move my leg!

OK, next time I promise not to let myself run out of the Naproxen before the end of the month again, and not put all of you through that again.

Yesterday's physical therapy really upped the soreness level of my feet, ankles and knees. I'm having more trouble than usual standing and walking. I'm sure this is normal from after a physical therapy session, starting to move parts that have gotten a little rusty. But this is made worse by the fact that I have NO OTC painkillers left. No Alleve, no aspirin, no Tylenol, nothing.

I don't get my monthly benefits until the 1st, and am broke until then. I really, REALLY desperately need some muscular-skeletal painkillers.

Please, can anyone help me?
My right foot is swollen, and it hurts to put any weight on it. I had to cancel an appointment I had for this morning because I can't leave the apartment, much less make it downtown. I can't walk down the stairs again, and am pretty much bedridden again. Worse part is, this time all I have is aspirin, which doesn't work well for gout. I need real painkillers!

I'm pretty sure its another gout attack, in combination with my disintegrating orthotics, and my shoes which are starting to wear unevenly from the pronation. Last night, I had Krab dip and crackers for dinner, and I just know that's what must have exacerbated it. It seems that anytime I eat artificial crab meat anymore, I get a gout attack. Ouch. I also probably overdid it on the meat protein last night... I had gone to Haggen when I received my food stamps yesterday, and was craving meat, so I also got some fried chicken.

And the pain started 2 days ago when I ate salmon I got from the food bank last week. Sheesh.

What I am eating is killing me!

Three days ago, my right wrist started hurting, like a sprain, or Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. It hurts to turn it. No idea what I did to it - this is out of the blue. It's since spread to my elbow, so I basically can't use my arm now. Can barely type left-handed. Hurts. Damn.

I wonder if I pinched a nerve or something.

What timing.

Graduation is tomorrow, Mom is arriving, and I'm gimped up.

Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow.
