Seriously. I want to be a wired human.

Not in the Borg sense, with electronics embedded in my body. That would be crazy-making.

What I want -- and I have been dreaming about this for several years -- is a way to do everything I already do on my computer while I am outside walking in the woods.

No, really! I want to be able to walk away from my computer, and still be able to access the net.

I want to be able to read BoingBoing and Common Dreams on the road. I want to write blog entries on LJ while walking in the woods. I want to watch TV and movies while on Walkabout. I want to make video conference calls from anywhere. I want to read and write emails while walking down the sidewalk. I want to be able to write, edit, and manipulate text, code, and graphics wherever there is a wireless connection. I want to play games in bed. I want to read novels while crossing the continent.

In short: I want to stop being a "mouse potato."

FINALLY!

My long exile is over... I have returned to the Mac Tribe.

When Ron moved to Alabama, he left me his Pieca Crap, a.k.a. PC, for free. I guess you get what you pay for :) It did me well for the past few months, and I thank Ron profusely for that, but it finally died on "Sweep up all the Fireworks Detritus Day," a.k.a. the 5th of July.

After trying for days to get it back up and running on the net, burning up a lot of cell phone minutes with Comcast tech support, driving down to Seattle to exchange modems, I finally said "ENOUGH!" and went Pawn Shop shopping for a real computer, a.k.a. a Mac. Found one for $179 (plus state and local taxes) at Pawn XChange down on HWY 99 in North Seattle. It's half my paycheck. And I probably won't be eating for a while. But I'm back home baby!

So now the question is, to pay the cell phone, or the Internet/Cable TV? LOL! Priorities, priorities!

And, alas, my assignment as a File Clerk Temp for Adecco at Verizon Wireless ended Friday. So I'm now unemployed again. C'est la vie.
