I just penned a letter to each of my senators and representatives in Washington, D.C. (Sen. Maria Cantwell, Sen. Patty Murray, and Rep. Rick Larsen):

ENOUGH! Israel's recent behaviour in Gaza is completely unacceptable, and must not be allowed to continue unchallenged. This is not self-defence, it's retribution, and a war crime. I urge you to work to stop Israeli state-sponsored violence against Palestine, and furthermore, to cut off the flow of U.S. military aid and taxpayer money to Israel. I do not want my tax dollars going to fund Israel's oppression of Palestine any more.

I look forward to your reply.

Regards,

Kevyn Jacobs

It may be futile, but it's important for these people to know that their constituents are objecting to what's happening in Gaza (on our dime). Never let it be said that I did nothing to stop the bloodshed.

I urge my friends who feel as I do to write their elected representatives in Washington. You can get their addresses at http://votesmart.org by entering your zip code.
Note: Dr. Perry gave us the following assignment, to write a letter to her, telling her about ourselves and what we want out of the class.

Subject: Three police visits today, 817 25th St. Apt. D
Date: November 11, 2007 7:31:27 PM PST

Hi,

Just a heads up to let you know that Donald Stevens (Apt. D2) called the police to the apartment three (3) times today, same thing as last week.

For the past week, I've been doing what the police recommended, to stay away from him, not even talking to him. That cease fire lasted until this morning, when he spitefully threw away a cooking pot I had left in the sink to soak overnight. Outraged, I took the pot, banged on his door with it, and shouted at him, "What the **** is wrong with you?!?" He immediately called the police, saying I was threatening him, and telling them I was dealing drugs out of my apartment (not true.) This set off an all-day argument that resulted in two more police calls, each time him claiming I was threatening him.

At no time was violence ever threatened.

Each time, the police arrived, talked to Mr. Stevens, and since this was obviously a domestic dispute with no actual violence going on, left.

This is getting very old, very fast. The police are getting tired of Mr. Stevens calls, I'm getting tired of him using the police to harrass me, and no doubt you are tired of hearing about this.

It's increasingly apparent that he and I cannot get along anymore, and live in the same apartment with a shared common room. Is there another apartment in the building you could move him to?

Thanks, and sorry that this is becoming a problem.

Since I am on a letter writing kick... I wrote letters to my two U.S. Senators, Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray, urging them not to confirm Michael Mukasey as U.S. Attorney General. Digging the hole deeper...

Ok, I've been threatening to do this for a while. It may not do any good, it may be too little too late, and I may end up regretting exercising my free speech rights later by revealing myself here as a Cheney opponent*, but I am fed up. I wrote a letter to my Representative in the U.S. House today:
IMPEACH NOW! )
On the advice of the police, I have written and mailed the following letter to the landlord:

For the second time in two days, the Bellingham Police Dept. has been here because my paranoid neighbour/housemate, Donnie, keeps calling them on me.
