My cell phone has been disconnected due to nonpayment, so no one can call me at the moment. I'll be checking email as long as the cable company doesn't disconnect my internet connection (which may not be that long from now, because they're after me for payment as well.)
It's just a question of what will be disconnected next - could be the cable/internet, could be the car insurance, which is also overdue, or the car itself could blow up - it's almost 5,000 miles overdue for an oil change, the front left brake has gone, and I'm running on a donut tire. Hell, for all I know, it could be my heart that goes next. At least the electricity bill isn't severely overdue.
And then there is, of course, the outstanding $3,800 I owe to the credit cards, and the $30,000+ I owe student loans, and the miscellaneous little medical bills. There's no food left in the fridge, and I'm out of smokes. Hopefully I'll be able to pay the rent next month, but there's no guarantee of that. At least I am working 4 days a week, so I'll be able to pay some bills, though when the car gives out, I'll lose that income. Not that it matters - my car tags expire next month, and I don't have the money to pay for that, much less the work I'll have to have done on the car's exhaust in order to pass Washington emission standards.
I don't have any quarters to do laundry, and I can't afford to buy the dress slacks, shoes & shirt the company I am working for asked me to wear to certain sales calls.
And I am out of toilet paper.
Some days it just doesn't pay to get out of bed.
Then again, the Universe hasn't disconnected me yet, so I guess I've still got some work to do. On what, I don't know, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
