A DUH! moment today:

Bush admitted during a press conference today that
9/11 had nothing to do with Iraq or Saddam Hussein.

FINALLY!

There's even video:

Of course, a recent poll says that 7-out-of-10
Americans STILL believe that Iraq was behind 9/11. And
the Bush administration did everything they could to
feed that belief (without actually saying it).

Is there hope now? Is this nightmare going to end?

Maybe. We can only hope.

I think that their motivation is justifiable deniability and reducing their critics ammunition. "See, we never said that Iraq was behind 911. You're putting words in our mouth."

There is hope.

But according to my calender, we have 2 more years before the nightmare ends. And! We have a whole year of election hoopla to wade through before we get to wake up! Oh boy!

It's a tricky game. They may never have actually said it - but they constantly implied it, and didn't object when everyone else connected the dots. They wanted the Iraq War - Bush for the oil interests and to avenge his Daddy, Cheney for the defense contractors - and they were looking for an excuse. 9/11 gave them that.
