I hate spamers.

I woke up this morning, and as I always do, first thing I did was check my email.

My junk mail box contained 6000+ bounced messages.

Some spammer is spoofing return addresses @kevyn.com, and sending out spam advertising Windows Vista, of all things. Ugh.

And the onslaught is continuing. Every few minutes, there's dozens more. Fuckers.

It's not the first time this has happened. Every few months, kevyn.com comes up in some spammer's rotation somewhere, and I end up having to delete thousands of messages. What a pain in the ass.

Nothing to do now but wait out the storm.

*sigh*

If anyone sent me something that got caught by my junk mail filter, I'm sorry, but I am deleting everything in that folder en masse, without looking to see if any legit mails got caught. Sorry.

Up to 7000, now.

I've tracked the IP of where the spam is originating, and it's a server in Queensland, Australia, but that doesn't actually mean anything - it could be an open relay, which means it could be originating anywhere.

And now they're advertising some sort of pharmaceuticals.

Almost 18,000 bounced emails now. And they're still coming. I've created filters to shunt most of them right to the trash, but it's still a pain in the ass.

Add another 10,000 to the total, bringing it up to 28,000 emails I have had to delete.

FINALLY! The onslaught seems to have abated. After another 5,000 bounced spam emails, bringing the total up to 33,000, it appears the spammers have moved on to torment some other poor soul's domain.

My email has been violently taken control of for 24 hours by someone for their own nefarious purposes. I feel raped.

Wow, that sucks! Since I don't have your e-mail address, I hope this gets through to you today. Mac and I are still planning to drive up and visit you tomorrow, and it would be good to know how or where to find you when we arrive. No idea what time it will be, though it's not likely to be earlier than 10:00 or later than noon.

I sure am looking forward to meeting the real Hagrid! :)
