So, before I do anything else, I think it's time for me to take a moment and stop and express my deep appreciation for everyone who has helped me get to where I am now in my education.
To Mom: Thank you for bringing me into the world, for raising me, and for teaching me to love knowledge and questioning... and even questioning authority. Thank you for reading Little Bear to me when I was a cub myself, for sending me to a Montessori Pre-School, for buying me all those Bobbsey Twins books, for rescuing me from a horrendous public school 5th grade and paying the tuition for me to go to a far superior Catholic elementary school, for sticking with me through countless mood swings and emotional crashes, for forcing me to go through with High School Graduation, for helping me with student loans and Semester at Sea, for keeping a roof over my head while I went back to school (again), for all those times I called and asked, "Can I have $50?", and for a million other reasons: Thank you. I love you.
To Granny Wright: Thank you for giving me an astronomy book when I was 5 years old, and showing an impressionable young mind the excitement of discovering the greater universe. Thank you.
To Dale: Thank you for putting up with me. I know it wasn't easy. And thnak you for being an educational inspiration.
To Nettie: Thank you for all the financial help, and for being there.
To Aunt Linda: Thanks for all of the financial gifts over the years. Even though we do not see eye-to-eye on a lot of things, let no one accuse you of failing to take care of family.
To Ms. Roberts, my 11th grade English teacher: You were the only teacher in high School who actually recognized and encouraged my writing talent. Thank you for showing me that I could write well, and believing in me, even though others didn't. Thank you.
To Alex K.: Thank you for awakening my heart, and showing me possibilities far beyond what I had dreamed.
To Gary G.: Thank you for teaching me about political discourse, and gregariousness, and how to talk to strangers.
To Anne Cowan, my advisor at ECC: Thank you for suggesting to me that I needed to quit school and just work a while. It was some of the best advice I ever got.
To Teri: Thank you for being a "big sister" for me through up-and-down times, through in-and-out of school times, for being an inspiration and best friend, for financial support, and for always seeing me for who I am.
To Christy Little: For giving me a forum in which to voice myself, and my first paid writing job: the Kansas State Collegian Opinion Page.
To Ron Johnson, Mike Marlett and Kelly Campbell: Thank you for having the vision to start the eCollegian, and then turning the keys over to a budding webmaster like me.
To Kady: For having been there through most of the important educational and employment events of my adult life. eCollegian, Morris, Juneau... what's next?
To Kevin: Thank you for all of the fascinating and mind-expanding conversations, the window into Canada, the support when I was exploring, and the kind words of encouragement.
To Rob Curley, Michael Romaner, Steve Yelvington, and the rest of the Morris crowd: Thank you for giving me an opportunity to shine, even though it took me away from school, and for paying for my Macroeconomics class at ASU while I worked for Morris. And thank you for keeping me around after the dot.com bust.
To Butch: Thank you for teaching me about surviving by using the system, instead of letting the system use you.
To Michael: Thank you for inspiring me to move to Bellingham and starting up school again.
To Scruffy: Thank you for the encouragement, and the vehicle!
To Rick: Thank you for the support as I muddled through school once again.
To Kevin: For all of the unbelievable and fantastic financial support. You are a gem!
To Dylan: Thanks for encouraging me during a difficult quarter at WWU, and giving me a place to write my papers.
To Whoretense: Thanks for the encouragement, and showing me that work and job are not the same thing.
To Bill Smith: Thank you for showing me that many of the skills I already have fit nicely under the umbrella of Technical Communications, and for letting me teach the class about Creative Commons.
To Dr. Sara Cuene and David Brunnemer at WWU: Thank you for helping me make it down the home stretch of my Bachelor's degree, and never giving up on me.
To Catherine Herring at DVR: Thanks for all of the support in buying books, and in getting the graduation fees covered.
And thank you to the staff, faculty, administration and financial aid advisors at every school I have ever attended.
I know there are others that I probably should be thanking here that I am forgetting. If so, I apologize.
And thank you everyone who reads my LJ for giving me the support and feedback I have needed!
