It started raining hard today, a cold, November rain that chills you to the bone. Winds have been high, too, making it all the more miserable.

I got up this morning, bathed, dressed in my best suit, and after stopping at an ATM to withdraw the $250 in donations I have received to pay my rent, I took the bus to the Landmark Property Management address that was on the notice they left on my door last week.

It was, unfortunately, in a part of town that is not served well by the local bus system, so I ended up having to walk about 10 blocks in the cold, driving rain. By the time I got there, I was soaked to the skin in my suit, and not feeling at all happy.

Only to discover, they had moved.

The damn notice they had posted still had their OLD address on it.

Merde.

Dispirited, I walked another 10 blocks in the driving rain, caught a bus back downtown, went to the post office, bought a money order for $250 plus a pre-stamped envelope, looked up their new address in the phone book, and mailed it.

It's past the 48 hour deadline I was given, and the money order won't reach them until tomorrow. It's probably not nearly enough to forestall eviction, but hey, I tried my best.

Thank you to everyone who loaned me money to keep me out of the homeless shelter. I'm really grateful to all of you, and will pay you back as soon as I am able.

If (when) I get evicted, I'll deal with that bridge when I cross it. Right now, I'm too tired, too depressed, and too dispirited to deal with anything. I'm going back to bed. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

Sending in the money is a great first step, good for you! If you can bring yourself to call them tomorrow I think that would help. Or just leave a message on their voice mail and tell them what your plan is to pay them back. If you don't have a plan yet, make one up that sounds reasonable but is slow.

Take care of yourself as well dear. I'm rooting for you.

OK, I called Landmark and left a message. Just said that I was continuing to try to gather the money together (even though I don't exactly know how I am going to do it), and that I continue to look for work, and thanked them for their patience.

Good for you! I know it can be hard to make the contact. You don't have to know what you're going to do, as long as they know you're trying.

Good idea to thank them for their patience. That implies they are being patient. *smile*

I'm rooting for you man.
