So, 14-time Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Phelps was photographed smoking out of a Bong.
SO FUCKING WHAT?!?!?!?!
But what's worse is Phelps' statement, when he admitted smoking marijuana:
Geez, Michael, the only "regrettable" behaviour was your apology. Now you're a hypocrite, too -- because I don't believe for a minute that you'll never smoke pot again.
The CORRECT response is, "Yes, I was smoking it, and it's nobody's business but my own." Period.
Sure, you'd probably lose some endorsements, but I guarantee you'd gain lots of others -- and a lot of respect.
I hope, with age and maturity, you will come to see your apology was the only "youthful and inappropriate" thing you did.
Sheesh!

But what's worse is Phelps' statement, when he admitted smoking marijuana:
I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment. I'm 23 years old and despite the successes I've had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again.

or simply: "it's nobody's business by my own."
i don't understand the need to admit anything or apologize for anything.
this is the guy everyone and their dog was praising a couple months ago and now we're supposed to believe he's spiraling out of control because he was SEEN smoking the ganj?
tell me he never smoked before.
i'll believe he quit long enough to pass olympic drug tests, but i don't for a moment believe this is a new thing.
so, as amazing of an athlete he is, he's that amazing *in spite of* his drug use.
he's a great swimmer and an olympian with or without marijuana, why should he have to apologize or admit anything and why should we be expected to think any less of him because of his habits.
it's not like he hocked his medals to buy crack.
