I just downloaded and watched the series finale of Battlestar Galactica. I confess I've never been a huge fan of the series... I like it, but I'm not fanatical about it. I watched the pilot miniseries, but only sporadically watched the show. However, I'm glad I watched the final few episodes.

The final episode had some really good moments.

Single best moment:

"You can see them too?"
(Me, shouting at the screen: "CAPRICA SIX HAS A GAIUS BALTAR IN HER HEAD?!?!?! HA HA HA HA HA HA!")

Other really good moments:

  • The return of the classic Centurion Toasters.

  • Boomer redeeming herself by rescuing Hera.

  • The visions of the Opera House coming true.

  • Starbuck programming the FTL with Hera's musical notes.

  • Galactica's final FTL jump, buckling under the strain. Visually incredible!

  • Adaama being the last one to leave Galactica.

  • Lee: "Our brains always outrun our hearts."

  • Zack: "Something's broken!"

  • Lee: "Goodbye, Kara Thrace. You will not be forgotten."

  • Laura: "For how long? All the way to the end."

  • 150,000 YEARS LATER

  • Ronald D. Moore's cameo, reading National Geographic.

  • Six: "Commercialism. Decadence. Technology run amok. Remind you of anything?"

  • Six: "That too is in God's plan." Baltar: "You know it doesn't like that name!"

So. End of a good story. Lots of loose ends tied up.

I'll probably watch "The Plan" when it airs this fall. But will I watch "Caprica" when it comes out? Maybe. Maybe not. It definitely won't be the same. We'll see...
