Bill Moyers has run a remarkable expose on PBS about how the Bush administration lied & manipulated a compliant press during the build-up to the Iraq War:

Bill Moyers Journal: Buying the War.

You owe it to yourself to watch this. It's a powerful indictment of the White House and the mainstream media. (This is exactly why I decided I didn't want to be in journalism anymore.)

Thanks for the link. I saw a bit of it on television last week, but didn't finish watching it.

I hear you. Clearly.

I do find it interesting that Moyers on several occasions has done several reports on PBS as opposed to when he was on CBS decades ago. (i.e.: before the corporations started to buy the TV networks.) In addition, numerous politicians have threatened to pull funding for PBS for many years for various reasons and not just because of programs like Bill Moyers Journal and Frontline.

I don't know if I told you about the last few months at my former employer. I did find it interesting that after I quit, several other reporters, producers, the news director and the general manager left or were fired. I get the feeling more people will either leave the business or continue gritting their teeth at what gets on the air and what does not.

Finally, I found it rather telling that a 2006 news special that aired locally in Rochester won an Edward R. Murrow award and a regional Emmy award a few months ago but two of the four main participants, the reporter and the producer, have left the station since the program aired.

Sadly, that's the nature of the media nationally and locally. Then again, CBC is starting to become my main news source on what is happening in the U.S. with AP Radio News and a few news websites as supplements.
