The 3-week workshop I am participating in at the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) has been focusing on my "dependable strengths" - those characteristics or skills I posess that make me valuable to an employer. As part of the process, I have been working with a small team of peers to identify each other's strengths.

Below is the list of my strengths, as seen by my peers in the group. These aren't my views, but others. Some of them surprise me (People skills? Responsible? Me?), but most are nice to hear from others.

Great. These kinds of things can be really good to learn more about oneself. I took a career course and they had us do exercises to help us learn more about what our traits are. I was resistant at first but decided to play along. Some of the things they put down I saw as completely foreign and so not me but I decided to just see where it took me and then later on realized that some of what they said is true and it was only me who wasn't aware of these things.

Yeah, part of what I am discovering is that, I've failed miserably at some things in life, and consequently have managed to convince myself that I don't posess qualities that I actually do.

Sometimes, I am my own worst enemy.

What everyone else said. Plus, you are a Lover of Geography and everyone knows that they are the very best people.

(I'm envisioning a line of "Geography is for Lovers" bumper stickers. I think I may have to mull on this.)

Good idea. I refiling some papers and found a form where I needed to write out my Dependable Strengths. Personally, I'm very stubborn when it comes to change. Currently, bad cold notwithstanding, I am forced to change my job search drastically and consider other possibilities.

Good luck to you.
*hugs*
