When I lived in Lynnwood, there was a Trader Joe's near the food bank, and I loved the fact that TJ products regularly ended up at the Lynnwood Food Bank. I'm talking good stuff, too: Salads, sushi, breads, cheese, produce, pastries, etc. Yum!
So when it was announced that Trader Joe's would be opening a store in Bellingham this autumn, I was eagerly anticipating it, because I knew that as a company, Trader Joe's gave all it's surplus/unsold/about to expire/just past expired food to food banks. I go to the Bellingham Food Bank on occasion, and I have been anticipating the day Trader Joe's stuff started showing up there. Yesterday, that day came.
I'm heading out the door to my friendly mealy apple, "ripe" bananas, year old onion, and shelves and shelves of frosted bakery items, food bank. Nope, we've just got safeway and red apple. There are some PCC things that make their way down there but not many. In a year or so whole paycheck foods will be showing up so things might improve.

Is there no Trader Joe's in West Seattle?
