Wow, this is so cool...

My Borg Poem just showed up on Yahoo! Philippines Answers Homework Help:

Resolved Question > Multiple choice.?

This is the second time this poem has hit the school curriculum radar internationally.

They call me a POET!

Damn. I always said my goal in life was to be a footnote... but now I'm somebody's HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT! LOL!

I'm feeling very accomplished here. (How do I channel this interest in my writing into $$$?)

Also interesting... They dropped the "s" from my last name: Jacob. I kind of like it. I've always felt the "s" -- which was added during the anti-German hysteria in the United States during World War I -- is kind of extraneous. (Also confuses the hell out of people who try to make it possessive or plural. Posessive: Jacobs' Plural: Jacobs Posessive plural: Jacobs' )

Actually, the name was originally "Jakob" (that's what's on my grandmother's tombstone) at the time of the family's immigration to "Hace, Amerika."

Hmmm. Kevyn Jakob.

Kevyn 'Hagrid' Jakob.

Hagrid Jakob. Not bad.

Nom-de-plume?

I like Hagrid Jakob. Use it.

I found out that one of my films had been used in an English class in China. Apparently it was one of the more difficult to understand exercises they had had. Considering that the script was written originally to confuse anglophones I'm not surprised.

> I like Hagrid Jakob. Use it.

Wait wait wait, the J is a German Y, so it'd be pronounced YAHK-ob.

Does that roll off the tongue?

> I found out that one of my films had been used in an English class in China.

Oh wow... how cool is that?

So this is what means to be a meme weaver... a Kulturschöpfer.

I had a vision of myself the other day as a weaver in the Zeitgeist.

Sounds like you've had a similar experience.

Fascinating!

I don't know if it's actually from the Philippines or not. That's the link that Google handed me, but it turns out that it's on all Yahoo! International brands (just change the 2-letter country prefix):

Yahoo! Canada, India, UK & Ireland, Deutschland

So it may just be that the Philippines version is just the first one that Google noticed. I don't see any way to determine where this question originated.

You start getting money when you file a class action lawsuit against the borg machine!

Hmmmmm. Paramount probably would counter-sue for trademark infringement. I'd never see a dime.

(*happy poet dance!*...which, coincidentally, my dear Mr. Jakob, looks VERY similar to the footwork one would use to stumble drunkenly out of a pub...)

No. I've spent enough of my holidays unconscious. I decided a while back that I wanted a change, and that I didn't want to be a slave to an outdated behavioural pattern.

You're an intelligent fellow...you understand.

Didn't you work for a book publisher at one time? Do you still have contacts there?

From: [identity profile] kevynjacobs.livejournal.com

McGraw-Hill. But I don't think there's anything I could do with them, here...
