Forty years ago today, on March 23, 1968 at 15:15 Central Time at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas, I came into the world.

And the world's never been the same since.

Actually, I'm surprised I made it this far. I never expected to see 30, much less 40. But, every day I get out of bed, and say, "OK, I'm still alive," and keep going. Seems to be working!

For my birthday, the Captain took me to the Chuckanut Manor Bed & Breakfast out on Chuckanut Drive, over in Skagit County last weekend. It was wonderful. We sat on the balcony and looked out over the water (which you can see in the photo), ate yummy food, drank and smoked a lot, and had a blast in the Jacuzzi hot tub. It was *the best* birthday I ever had, bar none, and I have the Captain to thank for it.

He took the photo at right of me at the B&B, holding the pink umbrella he gave me for Valentine's Day.

For lunch today, he took me to my favourite Asian buffet. Yum!

What a great birthday!

Shhhhh, shhhh, sweet sexy giant. As I was approaching That Birthday several years ago, a dear friend of mine quoted his own mother about it, and I'm happy to pass it along to you, as best as I can remember it:

40 isn't that bad. In fact, it's pretty good. You're finally relieved of the obligation to be "young". Not that you can't still be "young", nor will be "young", but you don't have to be "young" any longer.

It sounds like a wonderful birthday.

BTW, the plane tickets have been purchased, so John and I will be out in Washington State for a week at the end of June.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Sounds like the Captain O' Your Heart took good care of you. Best wishes and here's hoping for 40 more years just as good as today.

XOXO
Kady

Happy birthday, my friend!

I just turned 41 a few weeks ago.

So far, my 40's have been great.

I hope to see you in person again soon. It's been too long!
